Freya & The Sunflower Story ~ Part 1

Sunflower Seed Vintage began as a seedling of an idea… but like most things in life, it really bloomed from a big, messy, beautiful transition.

In 2018, I purchased Sunflower from a friend, just after a breakup and a big life shift. At the time, I already had my own vintage business — something I had poured my heart into — so blending it with this new chapter felt natural, like the next step in an evolving creative journey.

When I took on Sunflower, it was focused mainly on 90s/Y2K style.

But my love has always been with the 60s and 70s. That golden-era aesthetic full of flower power, worn-in denim, floaty silhouettes, and bold prints. So over time, I began weaving more of that into the collection. Slowly but surely, the racks started reflecting my true vintage heart.

I also began to introduce a few slow-made brands that I personally love — pieces that fit the vibe and values of Sunflower. Things that are made consciously, with love and intention, just like the vintage we curate.

Sunflower has grown with me — through seasons of change, through van adventures and market stalls, and through a whole lot of personal evolution. What started as a blend of two ideas became its own soul-filled space. A home for nostalgic style, sustainable values, and slow living… with a little bit of sass.
