Freya & The Sunflower Story ~ Part 2
Share
After planting the seeds in 2018, the years that followed were a time of wild growth and creative expansion for Sunflower Seed Vintage.
From 2019 to 2021, I began introducing a curated selection of women-led, sustainable, and handmade labels from both Australia and the USA. At one point, I was proudly housing 15 incredible small brands alongside the vintage I had become known for — a dreamy blend of slow fashion, community, and conscious style.
This was such an exciting chapter. I wasn’t just selling clothes — I was curating a whole lifestyle. Think handmade swimwear, woven baskets, throw rugs, graphic ringer tees, artisan jewellery, vintage-inspired sunglasses, and so much more. Every piece had a story and every brand I stocked held strong values I connected deeply with. The relationships I built during this time with makers, creatives, and fellow small business owners are still some of my favourites to this day.
And of course — the shoots! ✨ Collaborating with local models and photographers, we put together some seriously magical photoshoots. We’d pack up the car, chase the light, and create moments that felt nostalgic, free, and fun. I still look back on those photos with so much love. They captured the spirit of Sunflower so perfectly — wild, sun-kissed, and full of soul.
This era of Sunflower was about connection, collaboration, and celebrating slow fashion in all its forms. It was vibrant and chaotic and creative — and I’m forever grateful for everyone who was part of it.
With love,
Freya x
